About Us

Penny and Larry Schnabel originally came from Rolling Hills which is in the Palos Verdes Peninsula area of Los Angeles.  Larry practiced law for thirty-nine years in Los Angeles, specializing in corporate defense work.  Penny was originally a high school English teacher and more recently worked with youth volunteer programs for several non-profit organizations.  Larry tired of the Los Angeles traffic.  And our two daughters; Krista and Cynthia (the source of the vineyard name) had finished school and moved on.  We both had a long time interest in wine so decided to search for property where we could grow wine grapes.  Once we explored the Paso Robles area we were convinced that it was the ideal location for a vineyard and the next phase of our life.

It took several years to find the perfect property.  We were captivated by the panoramic views from Almond Drive in Templeton and also found there the limestone rich soil, abundant water and superb drainage on which grapes thrive.  We hired Mesa Vineyard Management to plant and manage our vineyard in 2004 and shortly thereafter began plans for our new home.  In October 2007 we moved full time to Templeton.
